For Infant . Children and Adults  When fluid losses are mild to moderate, the following amounts of kinderlyte may be given.

Mild (5%-6%) (Rehydration therapy 4 hr)(Replacement of stool losses)(Maintenance)
                                    50 ml/kg.                                10 ml/kg/ hour                    Human milkfeeding 

                                                                          (1cup of ORS for each                (lactose-free formula)

                                                                                        diarrheal stool)          (juices.undiluted formula)

Moderate (7%-9%)   ORS 100 ml/kg                         Same as above                   Same as above


Intake should be adjusted on the basis of clinical indications amount
 of fluid loss, patient's usual water intake, and other relevant factors

CAUTION
Urgent needs in severe fluid imbalances must be met parenterally.
Kinderlyte should be discontinued when the diarrhea has ceased.
Kinderlyte does not meet the caloric requirements of infants
children. Additional food or formula should be given as instructed by the physician.

The AAP Committee on Nutrition recommends that in the absence of specific contraindications, reintroductio of human milk or formula feedings should not be delayed morethan 24 hours in the infant with acute diarrhea.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Kinderlyte should not be used :In the presence of severe,continuingdiarrhea or other critical fluid losses .

Opened bottles of kinderlyte should be resealed, refrigerated, and used with in 24 hours.
